Some time ago I made an article about a tonearm made with a 3D printed pivot. At the same time I made another pivot for an EMT 929 tonearm pipe I had:
That pipe was abused and actually i had it mostly to copy the geometry of the tonearm and reuse it in a titanium arm. However, since the pipe was relatively ok, i decided to have a pivot built for it, maybe use it someday in my EMT 930. The tonearm would be some sort of Frankenstein, with the pipe being from an EMT 929, counterweight from a DENON arm, lift from an Ortofon arm and brand new brass pivot. The pivot draws a lot of inspiration from Ortofon AS212 and its siblings, it has (almost) the same bearings but i reused the oblique bearing as the original EMT 929 (or it’s older poorer sibling Thorens BTD-12S) albeit not eccentric. I could have used the original EMT bearings but the pipe was too damaged (someone drilled too many holes).
I sent the design ideas to Sergey Rogoziansky from https://karmadon.net/ and i waited patiently to be made.
Everything was touched, the connector was broken (I 3D printed one in resin, pretty ok, but it’s very brittle so i managed to repair the original plastic one and reused it).
